Early Years
Shortly after the company was founded in 1991, Geographic Information
Services, Inc. was invited to become one of Esri's first Business
Partners.
We spent our early years promoting GIS technology's irreversible shift
toward the desktop. Initially, GISi focused its training, strategic
implementation support and application development services on City,
County, Federal and Civilian clients in the Southeast.
Industry-Wide Recognition
By 1997, GISi was the largest Esri VAR in the southeast region and the
second largest in the nation. Our cumulative contribution to the growth
and progress of GIS technology earned GISi the inaugural Esri
Foundation Partner Award the corporate equivalent of a Lifetime
Achievement award.
A History Of Innovation
GISi leveraged its strong technical foundation to offer custom and COTS
solutions for pervasive government business problems. Our consistent
mastery of emerging technologies led the firm to develop many of the
industry's first Thin Client, Web Enabled, Mobile and Enterprise Wide
applications. We continue to focus strongly on object-oriented database
design given the tremendous opportunities it offers for integrity
assurance and cost reduction. In recognition of our technical
excellence Esri has named GISi Corporate Consultant System Integrator a
certification usually reserved for multinational system integrators.
Our groundbreaking work in local government land management led to
similar solutions for the military installation community. Beginning in
1995, GISi provided US Army Forces Command 3 years of range management
support for Operation Roving Sands the largest Air-to-Air Combat
Exercise in military history to the time. The firm expanded its
installation practice beyond the southeast in 1998 when we became the
GIS architects for Navy Region Far East, Headquartered in Yokosuka
Japan. The success of these efforts then led to a rapid expansion of
our service to the US Navy, US Army, and US Marine Corps.
GISi Today
Today, GISi serves local government clients in forty-eight states, and
military clients in all four branches throughout the United States,
Europe, and the Pacific Rim. In addition to our worldwide
defense-related history, we've served more than 175 municipalities and
numerous private-sector clients.
