Esri has published an ArcGIS 10.8 Quick Start Guide on their website, but GISinc wanted to give you our quick list of things to know regarding the newest ArcGIS version.

Top 8 ArcGIS Enterprise 10.8 enhancements:

  1. Ability to setting ArcGIS Enterprise in read-only mode to prevent downtime and data loss

  2. An informational banner (header and footer) used for informing users of any actions or maintenance against your portal

  3. An access notice when users first visit your portal

  4. New Vector Tile Style editor solution

  5. Additional webhooks that trigger events on user types and role activity

  6. New user type extensions for securing access to Utility Network and Parcel Fabric services

  7. Improved rendering on hosted features layers

  8. Faster publishing times on hosted feature layers

There you have it folks, our top 8 enhancements in 10.8 in a blog-shell (yes, nutshell would be a better figurative choice but GISinc's Marketing team likes terrible puns).

If you are considering the upgrade, don’t forget that ArcGIS 10.8 is on a short-term support release cycle, which means 3 year of support with 1.5 years of patches. If you need longer then 3 years on support and patches, it may be worth waiting until 10.8.1 is released later in 2020.

If you have questions or need help moving to 10.8, contact GISinc and we'd be happy to help you upgrade.
