The Southwest GeoReadiness Center (GRC), part of Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC), routinely assists the regional installations with Financial Improvement Audit Readiness (FIAR) objectives. FIAR progress depends on the investigation and resolution of errors reported on the Data Reconciliation Tool (DRT), but progress is complicated, and multiple disciplines that are already fully tasked are involved. So the GRC asked GISi to help coordinated progress from an enterprise level and, if possible, look for a way to enhance FIAR support.
After familiarizing ourselves with the workflow, we established centralized datasets for tracking all FIAR related activities. Custom geoprocessing tools were created to automate the data reconciliation process designed to keep data current with evolving workflow. Utilization of ArcGIS Online enables automated, standardized, and consolidated data collection via the Esri Collector mobile application. Streamlined display method, created using data driven pages, aims to facilitate progress that requires action by multiple disciplines. Maintained spreadsheets, created to summarize FIAR activities, allow the GRC to better understand progress across the region and helps identify errors that may be enterprise wide as well as quantify anything possibly preventing progress.
