GISi is proud to announce the addition of 17 new employees to the company: Paul Van Zuyle, Devin Johnson, Judy Reagan, Ben Taylor, Joseph Yoran, Devin Hannon, Paula Komm-Storum, John Martin, Daniel Rosero, Marina Schumacher, Brian McKay, Bill Kennedy, Waynon Meeks, Steven Gogola, Craig Frost, Cori Cox, and Bill Harvey.

Paul Van Zuyle – Paul has been working in Ventura County, CA doing GIS for over a decade; his recent work has been primarily as a GIS manager/coordinator and consultant within local government, but he started his career working in Fed Land for the USGS EROS data Center and then the Naval Research Laboratory at Stennis Space Center, MS. He is an ESRI ATP, has done a variety of technical work across enterprise GIS -including general IT support, SDE administration, analysis, and project management - and is a former President (and current member) of the Channel Islands Regional GIS Collaborative. Paul has a Masters Degree in Geography from the University of California, Santa Barbara and got his undergrad at UCLA. He joined us this week working at NITC, in Port Hueneme, CA, as a GIS Application Administrator.

Devin Johnson – Devin recently graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park with a Bachelors Degree in GIS. He was a research intern for NASA’s Goddard Space Center and is currently in Baltimore, MD. Devin will be joining Ryan’s team at the IGI&S Support Center Jan 4th, as a GIS Technician.

Judy Reagan – Judy joined the company last week as a GIS Technical Architect, working on the Federal Projects Team out of her home office in Denver, CO. She has more than 17 years of experience in information management and GIS, bringing us an extensive skill set designing and implementing enterprise databases and GIS solutions for a broad range of clients in the DoD. Judy has a Master of Science degree in Soil Science from North Carolina State University, and a BS in Agronomy from Tennessee Tech. She is also a talented & experienced project manager (watch out, she has a Six Sigma green belt!) , working with teams inside and outside of pure GIS, and has kept close ties to her ‘roots’ in the earth sciences (Get it? Soil science, right? J)

Ben Taylor – Ben started with the RSIMS team as a GIS Developer last month, wheels up and flying on Day 1 for the full teams’ in-progress review with the client in the Birmingham office. Ben has been doing GIS analysis and development for 10 years and helps round out our .NET web development skills; he also came to us from a company with the coolest name I’ve seen in the last 100 resumes I’ve reviewed: Fishbowl Inc. (no they did not sell pet supplies). He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of North Alabama in Environmental Biology, and has a story published about his conservation fieldwork in the book The Backroad to Crazy: Stories from the Field. Ben will work out of his home office in Huntsville, AL (close enough to come to the home office occasionally to shake things up!)

Joseph Yoran – Joseph joins us with several years experience in a wide array of IT technical support services, including software development (client and server side) on a variety of platforms, including ASP.NET, Java, JS, Python, XML, and SQL (to name a few). He has developed for a wide array of business needs, including web portals and applications that support emergency operations. Joseph has a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Mississippi State University. He will join us on Monday, 3/8, on the Federal projects team, working from his home office in Gulfport, MS, as a GIS Developer. He will be in the Birmingham office Monday and Tuesday.

Devin Hannon – Devin joins us with a strong background in environmental management and natural resources consulting utilizing a variety of GIS and GPS technologies (e.g. ArcGIS, ArcPad, AutoCAD, ERDAS, Trimble, ArcFM). His experience includes data collection, analysis and system integration in support of watershed management, asset management, and utilities. He has a Bachelors Degree in Geography & Anthropology from the University of Florida in Gainesville and is a GISP. Devin is working onsite at NAS Jacksonville (as of this past Monday, 5/3) as a Sr. GIS Analyst, reporting to Matt Gregory on the Navy team.

Paula Komm-Storum – Paula has prior military installation GIS experience working for many years in support of Patrick AFB. She is well versed in ESRI’s ArcGIS suite, AutoCad and Trimble GPS technologies, data standards, business line integration and is an experienced SDE administrator using SQL and Oracle databases. Paula has a Bachelors Degree in Liberal Studies with a Minor in Computer Science from the University Central Florida. She will join Devin onsite at NAS Jacksonville on Monday, 5/10. as a Sr. GIS Analyst on the Navy team.

John Martin – John joins the company after managing GIS operations at the City of Norfolk’s Department of Public Works. He has a Bachelors Degree in Geography from Texas A&M University and has continued his education with post-graduate GIS courses at Old Dominion University in Norfolk. John joins the crew onsite at NAVSTA Norfolk, VA, as a Sr. GIS Analyst reporting to Matt Gregory on the Navy team.

Daniel Rosero – Daniel brings us over 7 years of experience in GIS planning & development including: enterprise geodatabase management, data processing workflows and standards, and user support. Daniel has a Bachelors of Business Administration in Management from Northwood University and has prior military GIS experience working for the Army National Guard in Wyoming. He joins the IGI&S Support Center team as a Sr. GIS Analyst working in our VA office and reporting to Ryan Heitz.

Marina Schumacher – Marina brings us over 6 years of experience leading GIS data development teams, with a special focus in quality assurance, working for the GEOINT community to create products such as DNCs, JOGs and TLM data for NGA. Marina has a Bachelors degree in Geography, with a focus on GIS and Remote Sensing, from the University of South Florida and has earned multiple certificates in Six Sigma (she is a Master Black Belt) and Project Management from Villanova University. She joins the IGI&S Support Center team as its Sr. Project Manager, working in our VA office and reporting to Ryan Heitz.

Brian McKay – Brian brings us over 11 years of experience planning, implementing, and managing GIS services and training. He worked at the St. Johns Water Mgmt District in FL, Duke Energy in NC, and several consulting organizations leading GIS projects before joining GISi. He earned his GIS Technology Degree from Algonquin College in Ottawa, Canada and has also earned his C.M.S. (Certified Mapping Scientist) from ASPRS. He joined the growing team at Naval Air Station JAX on 9/20 as a Sr. GIS Analyst (Primarily as a Trainer), working in FL and reporting to Matt Gregory.

Bill Kennedy – Bill has more than 25 years of experience in the geospatial field, beginning his career in the remote sensing world and more recently holding Program Management and Business Development positions for companies such as Raytheon. He earned his BA in Earth Science from Lockhaven University in PA and his Master’s Degree in Geology from Bowling Green State in OH. Bill has his PMP, has earned numerous awards for his career accomplishments, and has also been a featured satellite imagery analyst in BBC and ABC news documentaries. He joined GISi in late September as our Federal Civilian Program Manager in Northern VA, reporting to Susan King.

Waymon Meeks – Waymon has more than 20 years of experience in systems engineering, project management, and geospatial analysis. He has a very broad background across the Federal GIS spectrum, including recent assignments leading teams in the creation, enhancement and automated field collection of TIGER data for the Census Bureau. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science and Geography from the University of North Texas and is an avid blues musician. He joins GISi Monday, 10/25, as a Sr. Project Manager leading the IGI&S Support Center team in our Northern VA office, reporting to Ryan Heitz.

Steven Gogola – joined GISi in July 2010 as a GIS Analyst for the State & Local Government Business Unit. Steve has a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from the University of Michigan – Dearborn, MI. Steve joins us from Consulting Engineering Associates, Inc. (CEA) where he was a GIS Consultant. Steve comes highly recommended from me as I worked with Steve for three years at CEA. Steve is currently working full time on-site to maintain and improve the City of Southfield’s enterprise GIS. Steve has already supported Southfield enterprise architecture design, installation and configuration of Oracle 10G R2, and ArcGIS 10. Steve has a strong domain knowledge of local government enterprise GIS, ArcGIS Server Enterprise Standard (SDE Oracle), water, storm and sanitary sewer systems, GPS, esri ModelBuilder, etc. Steve likes to play hockey and would probably give Dan Levine a run for his money as a hockey fan or on the ice. Craig Frost – joined GISi in July 2010 and is the GIS Coordinator for the State & Local Government Business Unit. Craig has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Franklin University – Columbus, OH and a Associate’s degree in Business Administration from Henry Ford Community College – Dearborn, MI. Craig was referred by Casey Hanson who worked with Craig at Wade Trim. Craig is currently managing 50 projects with the Technical Architects. Craig also has a background in GIS, certified in SQL 2005, Azteca Cityworks, Seagate Crystal Reports and others. Craig is detail oriented, organized and has been a great asset to the team. Craig works out of the Michigan Office. Welcome aboard!

Cori Cox - joined GISi in September 2010 and is a GIS Developer for the State & Local Government Business Unit. Cori has over 7 years of experience as a GIS Analyst & Developer for local governments. Cori’s background is diversified in esri desktop and mobile SDK development and is strong with the esri Silverlight API, ArcSDE and ArcPy module (python) specifically as it relates to geoprocessing with the ArcGIS scripting module and standard libraries. In the past Cori has developed a suite of command-line tools tailored to SCC’s system using Python for geodatabase administration, data maintenance, and map service management. Cori is a great resource for desktop, mobile, Silverlight, ArcPy, NumPy, SciPy, and ZODB libraries as well as a little IronPython for .NET applications (I’m sure I missed something). Cori has already contributed to the Oakland County Gateway (2nd Gen) print services, City of Southfield Silverlight website, APC PRISM Silverlight website. Cori currently lives in Indianapolis, Indiana and Graduated from Indiana University. Cori was referred by Justin Burns. Welcome aboard!

Bill (William) Harvey – Joined GISi last week as a Senior Technical Architect in the State & Local Government Business Unit. Bill comes recommended by Judy Reagan where they worked together at Shaw Environmental & Infrastructure, Inc. Bill has an extremely diversified portfolio and is a proficient GIS architect, developer, and analyst. Bill has expertise in several different environments, software platforms, programming languages and spatial analysis. Bill has advanced knowledge of database design, modeling, and programming methodologies. Bill is experienced in design and development of large IT and GIS projects. Bill was the Technical Manager for Shaw, where he managed 10 GIS/IT software developers, system analysts and database administrators for the Geospatial Information Management (GIM) group. Bill was responsible for software/system design and implementation, database modeling, GIM system administration and business analysis. Bill has a B.S. in Natural Resource Management from Colorado State University, Fort Collins, CO and is finishing up his M.S. in GIS from Colorado State University. Bill is currently working of his home in Castle Rock, CO. Welcome aboard!
