It’s finally here! Our big, bright, colorful, bold, quirky, geeky, user-friendly, and delightful website has been launched. We believe the new look, new content, and new functionality of our site will not only serve as a great resource for our visitors, but will also better reflect our company, our employee owners, and the work we do alongside our clients. Here are just a few of our favorite things about the new website.
We wanted a design that really captured our company culture, something that was lacking previously. For some reason, the “geek” idea kept coming up in conversation. Surrounding the idea was the shared belief that all of us are truly passionate about what we do, whether we’re map-loving geeks, number-crunching geeks, tech geeks, business geeks, or whatever we’re passionate about. We believe that saying you're a geek in anything, is just another way of saying you’re passionate. The other side of that coin is that we don’t take ourselves too seriously. We have fun and wear our geek badges proudly.
The Brag Book
Our brag book area is a window into the projects we have worked on with our clients. It contains pages that cover the latest projects we have worked on, broken down by state & local government, federal government, and private industry. Each project contains images of the work, a project description, technology used, links to applications (if available), links to press releases, awards, videos, or any other information available related to the project. It is meant to serve as inspiration for anyone exploring GIS and location technology for their organization. You’ll notice that links to our projects can be found under “Awesome Work” on various industry pages and sub-pages as well.
Take a Peek
Ok so we might be giving away too much here but we cannot help it. Our website has a few hidden treasures that people might not expect. One of the unexpected surprises is our “Take a Peek” map that can be accessed through the home page...or right here. The link will take you to a map designed to not only pinpoint your location, but also give you a few “tasty tidbits” about your area. Each tasty tidbit about your area is generated from Wikipedia, Geoenrichment, Flickr, and a historical markers data set. We plan to add even more sources in the future.
It's User Friendly
The new website is a responsive site, which means it’s designed to rearrange website elements based on the viewing area size. So if you’re viewing the website on a mobile device, you’ll see a design that has been modified to respond to the screen constraints of your device. It’s a relatively new way of designing websites to be user-friendly regardless of how users are accessing the website.
There are so many other things we like about the website, in addition to what we mentioned above. We still have a lot of work to do, adjusting things here and there and refining our content over time. We look forward to it and we hope that we are on the right track to providing all of you the best possible user experience on our website. We encourage everyone to check it out and feel free to submit any feedback you have to our Marketing team at email@example.com. Also be sure to sign up for our newsletter at the bottom of our website to be kept up-to-date with all news, articles, and exclusive content from GISi.
